According to Melissa Gabardi in Les Bijoux d'Annees 50, rings of this period differed in design from the "massive and imposing" examples of the 1930s and 40s. Later Retro rings, while still "important and visionary", were instead designed to be bombé and light in form. Designs like this French bombé ring spiraling into a dome of plain or twisted gold wire, sometimes set with gemstones, were also made by Cartier, Mellerio, Mauboussin, and other Parisian houses.
