This Tiffany Studios New York “Morning Glory” paperweight glass vase showcases delicate red and purple blossoms entwined with slender green leaves and vines against an iridescent amber ground. The interior is finished with a rich layer of gold iridescence that amplifies the luminous interplay of colors across the surface. Retaining its original gold Favrile glass liner with a scalloped edge, the piece was designed to serve not only as a work of art but also as a functional vase.

An iconic design, the "Morning Glory" was first made around 1913. The range of colors is phenomenal, with the absence of the typical gold iridescence on the interior, the flowers become the focus of attention. It was so difficult for Leslie Nash and Tiffany's gaffers to create the morning glory, and so exorbitantly expensive, that during the time of their original sale they were among the rarest and most expensive of Tiffany's glass forms.
