Demantoid Garnet and Diamond Grasshopper Brooch

$19,500

This Edwardian brooch depicts a cheerful grasshopper with a ruby eye in vivid spring green demantoid garnets and fiery old mine-cut diamonds, set in gold and platinum. Pavé-set critters—such as frogs, salamanders, birds—were beloved period jewels, pinned alone or in a small group along the neckline for a mini burst of flamboyant color.
