Hired in 1967, Angela Cummings worked for Tiffany & Co. for seven years as assistant to Donald Claflin, whom she described as a mentor anyone would be grateful to have. By the time her work was headlined under her own name in 1973, she had fully developed a distinctive style. Much of her work was inspired by nature, referencing many subtle and emotive motifs, while she was also a master of sleek geometry. Also mastering the language of abstraction, her modernist jewelry inlaid with hardstones and organic materials unites curved volumes with right angles in sleek, highly wearable designs.
